The rules for using Open Credits, and for developers who manage their games' pages.
The short version
- Open Credits is free to use. We show how games used AI, from sources we link, and what players think.
- We work hard to get it right, but we can make mistakes. Tell us and we'll fix them.
- Developers can claim their game's page for free and publish how AI was used. What you publish must be true, and it's shown as yours.
- Money and relationships never change a game's score or whether it makes the cut.
- We can remove things that break these rules, and we always tell you why.
1.What Open Credits is
Open Credits (opencredits.games) is run by Lodestone Development (company details in our legal notice). It shows, for each game we cover, how generative AI was used in making it, according to the sources we link, and what players think of the game. We aren't a store: we don't sell games or host them.
Using the site is free. You don't need an account to look anything up.
2.The information we show
AI credits come from the developer's own disclosures (such as Steam's AI disclosure), the developer's statements, credible press and developers who have claimed their page. Each comes with its source. A game without a disclosure is shown as such, never as made without AI.
Player scores come from public Steam reviews. Reviews that are only about whether AI was used, for or against, are left out of our number, and Steam's own number is always shown next to ours. How this works, and the main things that decide rankings and the cut, are explained on the How we pick page, which is part of these terms.
We check our information carefully, but we can't promise it's complete or free of mistakes. If you spot one, write to us and we'll look at it.
3.Developer accounts and claims
You may claim a game's page if you made the game or you're allowed to act for its developer. Claiming is free and never affects the game's score or whether it makes the cut.
When you claim a page, you confirm that what you publish about the game is true to the best of your knowledge: how AI was used, your notes and your links. When you add a trailer, or ask us to show the screenshots and trailer from your Steam store page, you confirm you may share them. It's shown on the game's page as coming from the developer, and the original sources stay linked. If your account of AI use differs from your store disclosure, we show both.
You keep the rights to what you publish. You allow us to show it on Open Credits and in our newsletters and social posts about the game, for free and for as long as it's on the site.
One developer account manages a game at a time. The first confirmed claim is the one that counts. If someone else says a game is theirs, we look at the evidence and decide.
4.What you may not publish
- anything false or misleading about how a game was made
- attacks on other games, developers or players
- content that's illegal, or that you don't have the right to publish
- advertising for other products, spam, or links to unrelated sites
5.Moderation, and how to object
Moderators can correct or remove what a developer published, take back a claim, decide not to list a submitted game, or take a game out of the cut. Every change is recorded with the reason. We tell you what we did and why, and you can object by replying to our email. A person looks at every objection.
To report content you believe is illegal, write to hello@opencredits.games with the page, what's wrong and why. We handle reports promptly and let you know the outcome.
6.Liability
We provide the site as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for decisions you make based on it, such as buying or not buying a game. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law.
7.Changes and applicable law
We may change these terms. We update the date at the top, and if a change affects developers with an account, we tell them by email before it applies.
Dutch law applies. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law.
